Uber wants to make your rides enjoyable as well as convenient. While the service is pretty handy if you want to travel from one destination to the other, the company also wants to make sure that hailing a ride is easy. Uber Makes It Easier For You To Connect With Drivers Using Live Locations Sharing

Just in time for the holidays, Uber is making some crucial changes in its platform to help you find a ride easily. As noted by Uber in its announcement today, finding a driver can be a difficult task in busy locations. Today's update deals with Live Location sharing with the driver.

Users have to simply turn on the feature in their app. You can do this by tapping on the gray icon on the bottom right-hand side of the display. When you are sharing your location, the icon will turn blue. However, you can reverse the process if you do not wish to share your location with the driver. Simply tap the same icon again and you're good to go.

When you’re at the mall, airports, and other busy locations, it can be challenging for you and your driver to find one another. With live location sharing, your driver can see where you’re located in relation to your pickup spot. That way, your driver knows you’re right there – or walking around the corner – to meet them. To turn on “live location” tap the grey icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. When your icon is blue, you’re sharing your location. You can change this at any time by tapping the icon on your map, or going to your privacy settings in app.

Apart from this, Uber is also expanding its Beacon program. It was first launched in Seattle last year. This is process innovation at its finest as the overall process of summoning a ride and then looking for it is a nuisance.

What beacon basically allows you to do is to choose a color to display on your iPhone's screen. Holding it up would make it easier for the driver to find you while looking out for the same color that you have put on your iPhone's screen on their windscreen. Uber points that the beacon is now being expanded to Chicago, San Francisco, and New York.

“Beacon, a device that goes on a driver’s windshield to help drivers and riders more quickly connect at night and in crowded areas, is expanding to NYC, SF and Chicago. When matched with a driver with a Beacon, riders can select from an endless number of colors for the Beacon to glow on their driver’s vehicle.”
