By default, iOS will repeat message alerts on your iPhone twice. Which means when a text comes through, your iPhone will ring once, but if you don't attend the notification at all, your iPhone will ring once more in a few seconds. Why Apple has implemented this feature is fairly obvious: so that the user does not miss a text message. But at the same time, it's an annoying feature in situations when you're taking a nap or driving, whereyou are forced to believe that you've received two messages instead of one.

Set iPhone To Never Repeat Message Notification Alerts

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

2. Navigate to 'Notifications.'

3. Look for the 'Messages' entry in the list of options. Once found, tap on it to access more settings for that particular entry.

4. Scroll all the way down to 'Repeat Alerts,' and tap to open the option.

5. Select 'Never' and close the Settings app.

Now, whenever a message comes through to your iPhone, your device will only notify you once. And if for some reason you wish to revert to how things were before, then simply follow the above steps again and instead of choosing 'Never,' select 'Once' in the 'Repeat Alerts' section. You can also choose to repeat the alert up to 10 times, if that's how you want to roll. But we're certain that a sane person would keep the limit within the 'Twice' threshold.

For a lot of users, the repeating alerts can be an annoying affair, tricking them into believing that they're received multiple notifications, while it's just only one.
