Only a Handful of Windows 10 Mobile Phones Will Get the Creators Update – List-December 2024
Dec 21, 2024 8:59 AM

Every time a newer version of Windows 10 Mobile is released, Windows Phone users - before getting excited about the new features - start worrying if they will even receive the updates. Microsoft has been kind of inconsistent with what will get the newest updates and what won't. Unlike Google and Apple who discontinue sending latest updates to two- or three-year-old devices, there's no such fixed strategy when it comes to the Redmond software leader. Wondering if your device will get the Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update? Here are the lucky few devices.

Windows Mobile Creators Update compatible devices

While Microsoft is yet to publicly share a list of Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update compatible devices, ZDNet has now published the following list that is expected to be upgraded to the latest Windows 10 Mobile version.

This list, however, doesn't include several models that are currently running Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update Insider Preview builds. It is yet to be seen if the company updates the list or shares their own with the public. It is also unclear what criteria Microsofthas followed to add the above devices in the compatibility list. When asked whether it's actually accurate, Microsoft gave the following statement (emphasis is ours):

Beginning this month, Microsoft will release the Creators Update for Windows 10 customers including those using Windows 10 Mobile. As has been the case with pervious Windows updates, a device may not be able to receive the Creators Update if the device hardware is incompatible, lacking current drivers, or otherwise outside of the Original Equipment Manufacturer's ('OEM') support period. These devices will continue to receive security and servicing fixes according to our OS support policy. The full list of supported devices will be posted on the Product Lifecycle page soon.

Microsoft has promised to start Windows 10 Mobile Creators Update rollout on April 25, two weeks after the PC rollout begins. Again, unlike Windows 10 PCs, not every mobile device that is running Windows 10 is eligible for the Creators Update.
