Now that we are done with the positive launch of the Galaxy S23 series, it is safe to say that all eyes are now on Samsung's upcoming flagship - the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Over the past couple of days, we learned some information about the upcoming foldable phones, and you can expect even more in the coming months. Today, we found out something about the upcoming foldable phone that will please all users.
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will have an improved hinge mechanism that will get rid of any display gap when the phone is closed
According to a renowned source, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be thinner than its predecessor, which is already great news because foldable phones have become notorious for being thick. We already knew that Samsung was looking to use the "droplet" or water drop mechanism for its hinge, but the source finally tells us what we will be getting.
Aside from being thinner, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will have no gaps between the display. This means that when you fold the device, it will be completely flush, without any gaps whatsoever. This has always been one of the biggest gripes with Samsung foldable phones, but now it appears that won't be an issue. In addition to that, we also know that the water drop hinges will be on both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Z Flip 5, and both phones will have an IPX8 rating too.
Confirmation: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5 will adopt water drop hinges and support IPX8 waterproof.

The source also claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be just 13mm when closed, which is an impressive number when compared to its predecessor, which is just a little under 16mm. However, the overall size of the device will remain the same, which should not be an issue considering how the size is already perfect.
Although not revealed by the source, we do know that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, along with a similar set of specs as the newest Galaxy S23 series. The sad news is that despite a lot of fan demand, the newest foldable will not have a slot for S Pen due to design limitations.
Samsung is gearing up to reveal both foldable phones at the Galaxy Unpacked event that should be taking place somewhere between August and September. Just like last year, you can also expect the company to announce the new Galaxy Watch 6 and perhaps a pair of wearables.
