New in iOS 10.3 Beta 3: App Compatibility Section in Settings-December 2024
Dec 26, 2024 6:32 AM

iOS 10.3 Beta 3 comes with a new feature called 'App Compatibility.' Here's what it does and how you can access it.

iOS 10.3 Will List Down Apps That Won't Work With Future Versions of Apple's Mobile Software

Apple released iOS 10.3 Beta 3 to registered developers yesterday and it was likely that the company would pack a couple of changes under the hood. Apart from the usual bug fixes and performance enhancements, iOS 10.3 introduces an interesting little feature that goes by the name of 'App Compatibility.'

How to Access App Compatibility

In order to access the newly added feature in iOS 10.3 Beta, just navigate to Settings > General > About > Applications.

What Does it Do?

The feature will scan your device and list down all the apps that will not work with the future versions of iOS. If there's an app that has compatibility related issues, it'll be displayed in this new section. Tapping on that app will take you to the App Store, showing you when it was last updated.

Basically, if the app you have installed on your device does not follow the latest guidelines laid down by Apple, the software will cease to run in future versions of iOS. It's completely up to the developer whether or not he or she would add compatibility in the time to come. I will highly recommend dropping your app developer an email right away and push them for an update. If they fail to comply, well, then there's nothing we can do.

Wrap Up

Given iOS 10.3 is a hefty little update on its own, therefore it's likely that the software will be pushed out after a considerable amount of time. Given Apple is rumored to hold an event in March as well, there is a possibility we might end up seeing the final release during that month.

iOS 10.3 Beta is available to registered developers and public beta testers alike. The latter can access the pre-release bits by heading over to beta.apple.com. It's absolutely free, and the update will be pushed to you over the air. This means you won't lose your files or settings after the installation process.
