MSI has made an addition to its X-Slim ultraporable series of notebooks with the new X430. What's different this time around is the processor. Instead of Intel consumer ultra lower voltage processors, MSI has gone forward with a dual-core, power-saving AMD Athlon Neo X2 processor. The processor delivers satisfactory performance, while drawing only 18W of power, an almost 60 percent reduction compared to the normal lineage of processors. MSI's emphasis this time seems to be battery time, and they've seemingly introduced several software based solutions in the notebook, to increase the battery time, in addition to its choice of the processor. This ultra-thin notebook comes equipped with Windows 7 Home Premium.

The X-Slim X430 features a dual-core AMD Athlon Neo X2 processor paired with AMD RS780MN chipset with SB710 southbridge. The 14-inch LED Backlit display supports 1366x768 pixel resolution and cinematic HD playback in 16:9 aspect ratio. For HD graphics and games, it comes equipped with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200 which also supports DirectX 10.

The notebook supports up to 2GB DDR2 667MHz memory and 500GB SATA HDD for storage. And the usuals include 802.11 b/g/n WiFi network adapter, built-in 1.3MP webcam, two USB 2.0 port, D-sub port and HDMI out. MSI also offers an option of external DVD super-multi drive or Blu-ray drive.
