iPhone 15’s Solid State Buttons Will Work Perfectly With Any Case Attached, Claims Tipster
iPhone 15’s Solid State Buttons Will Work Perfectly With Any Case Attached, Claims Tipster-September 2024
Sep 18, 2024 6:31 PM

There will be some level of consistency between the four iPhone 15 models scheduled to launch later this year. Apart from the Dynamic Island, which was exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max last year, Apple intends to incorporate solid state buttons to the less expensive iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus too. Also, there is good news for potential buyers when purchasing official or third-party cases, as those buttons will work perfectly with the accessories to the phones.

Solid state buttons’ functionality was designed with cases attached to each model

Given that there is always a high probability that you will protect your shiny and brand-new iPhone 15 purchase with a premium case, Apple likely had this thought in mind that decided to make its solid state buttons compatible with any accessory. According to ShrimpApplePro on Twitter, these buttons were designed for this usage, indicating that users should have no problem when adjusting the volume or turning off the display using these buttons.

Apple could also be working closely with popular case manufacturers, providing them with accurate dimensions of each iPhone 15 model, with particular details provided about the solid state buttons regarding their length, depth, protrusion, and other changes. This should ensure that each press of these buttons with the cases attached delivers more or less the same sensation as it would with the case removed.

Rumor claims all iPhone 15 models’ solid state buttons will work perfectly with the cases attached

However, thicker cases that deliver added protection to any iPhone 15 model might take some getting used to because of the extra material used, but ShrimpApplePro appears to have confidence in Apple’s approach. According to an earlier report, Apple will apparently add three Taptic Engines to the iPhone 15 models, so those solid state buttons provide almost the same ‘clicking’ feedback as physical ones.

The addition of these Taptic Engines suggests that Apple will have to revamp the insides of each iPhone 15 completely, so we should see a different arrangement of the logic board, battery, and other components. Whether or not this will force Apple to increase the price of each handset due to the extra effort is something we cannot comment on right now, so we will advise our readers to be patient with more updates.
