iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, One Again Reported To Feature The Faster Wi-Fi 6E Standard
iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, One Again Reported To Feature The Faster Wi-Fi 6E Standard-April 2024
Apr 28, 2025 2:30 AM

Out of the multitude of exclusive upgrades arriving to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, one addition will be the existence of Wi-Fi 6E, bringing several benefits over Wi-Fi 6, depending on who takes advantage of it. While this rumor has been mentioned previously, two analysts decided to double down on it, giving potential customers another reason to pay extra for one of these premium devices.

Regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will remain on Wi-Fi 6, leaving out the two models from experiencing the benefits of Wi-Fi 6E

Sadly, Wi-Fi 6E will not be available on the less expensive iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, with AppleInsider reporting that Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O’Malley believe that the Wi-Fi 6E upgrade will remain exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Remember that the non-Pro versions are said to ship with the same A16 Bionic SoC present on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Assuming Apple re-uses the same logic board, it will likely have the same Wi-Fi 6 adapter as last year’s models.

While Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E standards bring several advancements, the upgraded standard takes it one step further. Unlike Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E can function on the 6GHz spectrum, meaning that devices that feature this adapter can operate with little interference from others. Wi-Fi 6 only supports the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, and if there are numerous devices connected to the same spectrum, it can result in a more crowded network, increasing interference and decreasing transmission performance.

Wi-Fi 6E has no such limitations, but it will only benefit those with a Wi-Fi 6E network in their home. For instance, if you have a modem, range extender, or router that supports Wi-Fi 6E, then only your iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be able to witness those benefits. Also, keep in mind that upgrading to Wi-Fi 6E is not exactly cheap unless you can score a phenomenal deal, so only make the switch if you feel that the advantages of this standard outweigh the investment that you are about to make.

Several Apple products have already migrated to the newest standard, with the 2022 iPad Pro models and 2023 MacBook Pro family supporting Wi-Fi 6E. No iPhone model has yet to feature this upgrade, meaning that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be Apple’s first handsets to do so. As for 2024, when the iPhone 16 lineup rolls out, another analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, reports that Apple will switch to Wi-Fi 7.
