iOS 13 Could Potentially Ditch Support For iPhone 6, iPhone SE and iPhone 5S-January 2024
Jan 14, 2025 8:48 PM

Apple's WWDC 2019 is just months away and we're hearing details on what the Cupertino giant might have in store for users. As it turns out, a rumor points out that iOS 13 will ditch several generations of iPhone models. iOS 12 was different, it was compatible with all devices that could run iOS 11, enhancing performance all the way back to the iPhone 5S. However, if the rumor has any credibility to it, we could see iOS 13 support end for iPhone 6, iPhone SE and iPhone 5S. Let's dive in to see some more details on the matter.

iOS 13 Will Not Support iPhone 6, iPhone 5S, iPhone SE

As we have mentioned earlier, the report has claimed that iOS 13 will drop support for older iPhones, constituting of the iPhone 5S, iPhone SE, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. The iPhone 6 was a huge success for Apple and still holds the crown for Apple's best-selling iPhone generation.

If the news is true by any means, we would see a huge chunk of devices which can not update to the upcoming firmware from Apple. iOS 13 is expected to arrive sometime in September after the launch of the iPhone 11 (f that is what it's going to be called). In addition to this, the iPhone 5S would be the superior device amongst the bunch since it received an extra year of updates compared to the iPhone 6.

iPhone 6s

Amongst the iPad category, iOS 13 will not be available as an upgrade on the iPad mini 2 and iPad Air. The iPad Air was launched in the same year as the iPhone 5S, so it makes sense for them to forego iOS 13 support together. There will be more to the story, so be sure to stay tuned in for more details on the matter.

This is all for now, folks. Do you think Apple should ditch the iPhone 5S but not the iPhone 6 with 13 support? Let us know your thoughts below.
