iBooks in iOS 12 Will Feature ‘Today’ Section, According to New Report-February 2024
Feb 4, 2025 11:42 PM

A new report suggests that Apple's iBooks app in iOS 12 will feature a 'Today' section, much like how it is in the iOS 11 App Store.

iOS 12 Will Take iBooks Very Seriously with a Massive Overhaul and a Brand New Today Section

Though the App Store went through a major overhaul in iOS 11, but the same can't be said for iTunes and iBooks. Those stores remain unchanged and pale in comparison to what the App Store has to offer. But a new report from Mac Otakara suggests that all is about to change with iOS 12 as the company is looking to revamp the iBooks store with a brand new Today section.

The report suggests that Apple is busy building up an entire editorial team that would curate content to appear in the Today section. This stands true in fact, if the recent job posting by Apple on LinkedIn is anything to go by.

I sincerely hope this report turns out to be turns out to be true. The current state of affairs in iBooks are very, very grim and finding what you want completely surrounds around the fact whether or not you actually need particular books or not so that you make the trip to iBooks. Basically, nothing ever comes to you in the current setup. Once the Today section goes live, there will be a proper highlight of books, new releases, what's hot these days etc. Furthermore, it remains to be seen whether or not Apple would rename the store to 'Books.' After all, the company did jump the gun with a recent beta release of iOS 11.3 after which it changed the name back to iBooks in the latest build.

Everything will be clear in the coming weeks as Apple is expected to announce iOS 12 in the opening keynote of WWDC 2018 which is set for stage on the fourth of June.
