HTC U12 With 3,500mAh Battery Pops up on Verizon’s Website With Bezel-Less Display Teased-December 2024
Dec 22, 2024 6:18 AM

HTC’s 2018 flagship, theU12 has shown up on Verizon's Open Development website.Strangely enough, we were expected the flagship to be named the U12 Plus but here is a brand new surprise for us. It might have been an error in the naming scheme because up until now, all we’ve heard about the flagship was that it was going to be called the U12 Plus. Even if HTC sticks to calling it the U12, there are certain advantages to owning one, according to these specifications.

HTC U12 to Feature a ‘Frameless’ Design & a Massive 3,500mAh Battery Coupled With the Best ‘Off the Shelf’ Hardware

For the latest scoop on the upcoming smartphone launches, Verizon's Open Development website is the place to be at. Not so long ago,the website unveiled the launch of the new versions of Samsung Galaxy S9and Galaxy S9 Plus sporting128GB and 256GB of internal storage. Now, the website has news about the upcoming HTC flagship, the U12.

The phone will sport a ‘frameless’Super LCD 6-gen screen WQHD resolution. It will be protected by the Gorilla Glass 5 and get IP68 certification. The batterycapacity will be a huge selling point of the phone because, at 3,500mAh, it is as large as the cell present in the Galaxy S9 Plus. The phone will also support 4K video recordingfeaturea Bluetooth 5.0chip.

The Verizon Open Development specifications listing also says that the phone will feature an LTE Cat.12modem, which is kind of a disappointment and honestly, does not make sense as it will be a waste of Snapdragon 845’s Cat.18modem. However, we are hoping for the best on the basis of possibility that this is just the minimum requirement for the phone to be a part of the Open Development testing platform.

The device was added to the database just yesterday, so the rumors indicating a May launch might as well be true. After the manufacturer, the carrier is the most reliable source of information for upcoming device launches. However, the Cat.12 LTE support bit doesn’t add up so letushope that this tiny detail is wrong. The image accompanying the listing does not seem to be that of HTC U12, so it is most likely a placeholder image.

Are you patiently waiting for the flagship to get announced? Tell us down in the comments.
