We're extremely glad that Apple introduced a method of trying out new beta software without doing a clean install of it. iOS 12 Beta gets the same treatment as well. And if you've been looking at the possibility of taking the software for a spin, but are afraid of the prospect of losing your data, then you can try out the new preview build without losing anything on your device. It's a simple case of grabbing the Configuration Profile straight from Apple itself and then installing it onto your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. But of course, this requires you to have a working Apple Developer Program membership with you, something which will set you back $99 on an annual basis.

If you are interested in learning about the features of iOS 12, you can check them out by heading over to this link.

Install iOS 12 Beta Without Losing Your Files

Sign into the Apple Developer Program website by going to:developer.apple.com/account/Once signed in, tap on the Downloads option under Additional Resources.Under Featured Downloads, find iOS 12.Tap on the blue Download button next to it.You'll be asked where you wish to install the profile, select iPhone. You will be asked to restart your device, so please do so.Once you're booted up again, connect to WiFi, head over to Settings > General > Software Update. You'll see iOS 12 Beta available for download. Tap on Download and Install.

Personally, I would recommend taking this route of installing the preview build of iOS 12 as it's quick, easy and does not require iTunes at all. Trust me, the process of downloading an IPSW file then restoring it using iTunes might not sound like much, but once you experience it, you'll realize how convenient the over the air method is.
