Here's how you can disable / stop receiving OS X beta updates on your Mac computer. Once done, you won't be notified of any pre-release software that is available to download via the Mac App Store.

OS X beta

OS X updates are pushed to users in a very swift manner by Apple, with the Mac App Store being the one-stop hub for everything you need to download to stay up to date. Heck, Apple pushes out OS X beta updates to users and developers alike through the Mac App Store as well, making sure that the process of getting the latest bits and pieces of software is as easy as possible.

All is well and good until you realize that you're getting updates for OS X beta on your Mac even though you have the final build of the software installed. If you want to stop receiving those pre-release bits, then here's what you need to do, and the process is absolutely effortless to follow.

How To Stop Receiving OS X Beta Updates On Mac

1. Open System Preferences on your Mac. The easiest way to launch it is by clicking on the 'Apple' icon in the Mac Menu bar and then clicking on 'System Preferences.'

2. You'll see a bunch of options. In the last row there's an entry labelled 'App Store.' Click to open that up.

That's it, from here on in you won't get any pre-release updates for your Mac through the Mac App Store when it comes to OS X beta builds, makingthings exactly how they were when you took your Mac out of the box for the first time.

If you're a developer, we highly recommend that you keep the above mentioned option turned on and keep on receiving OS X beta updates. After all, you want to be up to date when it comes to having Apple's latestsoftware and testing out your apps and games. But if you're an average user like the rest of us, then you might want to turn things down, as beta software tend to download in the background, use up bandwidth, and of course, can be unstable when installed. If you're not sold to the idea of parting with the aforementioned treasures, then you might want to go through the above steps to stop receiving beta seeds for OS X.
