Schedule Text Messages for Any Time or Date Using Shortcuts App on iPhone and iPad
There is a high chance that you do not bother opening up the Shortcuts app because it looks sorta complicated to use. But the truth is, it's actually not for a lot of things. It is extremely powerful and once you get the hang of it, you'll be surprised at the things you can do with it. This also includes the ability to schedule text messages. Yes, you read that absolutely right. You can use the Shortcuts app to schedule text messages for any time or date. This means that you will never ever miss sending out a birthday wish to someone once you've set it up properly.
Tutorial
Step 1. Launch the Shortcuts app from the Home Screen.
Step 2. Tap on the Automationtab at the bottom.
Step 3. Now tap on Create Personal Automation.
Step 4. Tap on Time of Day at the top as shown in the screenshot below.
Step 5. Here you have a bunch of options to play around with. But for the sake of this tutorial only we will show you how you can schedule a text message to go out on a particular date and time. So, tap on Time of Day and select the time at which you want the text message to be sent from your phone.
Step 6. If you want the text to be sent out daily at the given time, then select Daily or Weekly if you want it to be sent on a particular day (or days) of the week. Select Monthly and select the date on which you want the text message to be sent.
Step 7. Tap on Nexton the top right hand corner when all set.
Step 8. You'll now see a bunch of Action suggestions. Simply tap on Send Message.
Step 9. Tap on the 'Message' area and type in the message and then tap on 'Recipients' to select the contact to whom you want to send the message.
Step 10. Tap on Nextin the top right hand corner when you're all set.
Step 11. Uncheck the Ask Before Running button so the action runs without asking you, therefore it will be sent on time without any sort of delay. And then tap on Done on the top right hand corner.
That's it. Your automation is now set and the text message has been scheduled. And if you want to remove the automation, simply swipe left on it and tap on Delete.
You can make this automation more complex if you want. For example, you can set it to send out a text message during sunset or sunrise. It will simply use your phone's built-in GPS and location services to calculate the sunrise and sunset time and send away the text accordingly.
