Google Mocks The Upcoming iPhone 15 For ‘Finally’ Getting USB Type-C Charging In The Latest Ad-December 2024
Dec 21, 2024 3:58 AM

The rivalry between iPhone and Android is as old as time, and while one simply cannot figure out who the clear winner is, it is safe to say that without one, the other wouldn't exist. Healthy competition is always vital for any innovation and progress. Still, Google has other things in mind with its latest ad, such as the upcoming iPhone 15 being targeted by a Pixel phone for finally having USB Type-C, something that almost all Android phones are using nowadays, and Apple is finally switching after over a decade.

Even Google knows that Apple is finally bringing USB Type-C charging to iPhone 15

The ad is part of Google's #BestPhonesForever series on YouTube, and this one is called "Spa Day." The ad shows an iPhone along with a Pixel in a spa, chilling with cucumber on their camera islands. The skit starts with the iPhone telling the Pixel how the spa day was the perfect idea with all the launch events coming up and recalls back when Apple first introduced the slide-to-unlock feature 16 years ago. If you think this is the end of it, it gets interesting.

"Now it seems like every time I turn around, phones like you are doing stuff I can't, like unblurring old photos, answering unknown calls with AI, and live translating messages... it's exhausting. But I've still got a few tricks up my sleeve."

"Like what?" replies the Pixel.

"That's under wraps. But let's just say you'll be USB-C-ing soon!"

"You're finally getting USB-C charging?"

"What?" replies the iPhone as the cucumber slithers off the camera island. "How did you know?"

"Lucky guess?" says the Pixel sarcastically.

You can have a look at the 1:15-minute ad below.

Now, someone might look at this ad and take offense, but in all honesty, it shouldn't be looked at in any way more than just a friendly banter between two companies. We can assure you that Apple and Android or Google are not going to start a war against each other. The iPhone 15 is scheduled for 12th September, later this month, and the Pixel 8 is scheduled for October 4th. As far as the launches are concerned, this part of the year does seem like it is packed, and we are all for it.

What other features do you think Apple should bring to the new iPhone 15 series aside from the USB Type-C, which happens to be the most talked about? After all, it has been over ten years since iPhones started using the Lightning Port, and this switch to the USB Type-C makes it a big deal.
