Apple is set to announce iOS 17 and macOS 14, along with other updates at its WWDC 2023 event on June 5. The company has big plans for iOS this year as it is reported to revamp the Control Center on iPhone. Like every year, we know what Apple's mobile operating system will be called as it is based on a number. However, the same can not be said for macOS, as the company selects the name based on a destination in the United States. We now have a list of names from which Apple could choose the name for its upcoming macOS 14 operating system.
Apple could choose one name from the list below for macOS 14
Apple filed 15 trademarks for names that it can potentially use for macOS 14. The list includes names such as Diablo, Sequoia, Mammoth, Redwood, and much more. The trademarked names have not been used before, and there is a high chance that Apple might pick one off of the list. The list was shared by Parker Ortolani on Twitter. Take note that the final word rests with Apple. It could announce macOS 14 with a different name that is not part of the list. Check out the full list below:

As mentioned earlier, Apple usually names macOS after a place, and the company has been doing this for a while. As for what you should expect, there is very little that we know about what is coming with the latest macOS 14 build. Potentially, the update will be a minor one as it will focus on refinements and stability for enhanced performance. Nonetheless, Apple can always surprise us with new features that work alongside iOS 17 and iPadOS 17.
It was previously reported that iOS 17 would be an update that focuses on the stability of the platform. Later on, it was reported that iOS 17 will introduce a revamped Control Center. Henceforth, you never know what is coming as far as the software side of things is concerned. Additionally, Apple could announce major features on stage but release them in the future in the form of updates. As mentioned earlier, Apple will have the final say.
Apple will release macOS 14 to developers after its WWDC 2023 event on June 5. We will keep you guys updated on the latest, so be sure to stick around. Which names do you prefer for macOS 14 out of the list shared above? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
